Beef mince and mushroom pie
Enjoy a hearty beef mince and mushroom pie with rich, savory filling and a flaky golden crust.
Ingredients
![]() | 2 cups of fresh minced beef |
![]() | 2 pie crusts – you can use shortbread pie crusts or pastry crusts. I’m using short pie crusts in this recipe. |
![]() | 20 g of tomato sauce or coulis |
![]() | 1 cup of chopped fresh mushrooms (eg. white mushrooms or oyster mushrooms). If using frozen mushrooms, add them in at the same time as the minced beef. |
Spices, herbs and ingredients for flavor:

![]() | 1 teaspoon of garlic powder |
![]() | 1 tablespoon of fresh or dried parsley |
![]() | 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika |
![]() | Pinch of salt and pepper |
How to make this beef and mushroom pie
- Cook the minced meat, garlic, and spices in a lightly oiled pan for 8-10 minutes.
- Add mushrooms, tomato sauce, and parsley, then cook for another minute.
- Stir everything together for 1-2 minutes using a large spatula.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
- Grease a large oven-safe casserole dish.
- Roll out the bottom pie crust into the dish.
- Spoon the beef filling evenly over the base.
- Cover with the second pie crust.
- Crimp the edges to seal the pie.
- Brush the top with egg white using a pastry brush.
- Cut small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, until golden and risen.
- Serve warm.
Beef mince and mushroom pie is one of those dishes that seems harder to make than it is. But in essence, it is just ground beef and mushrooms are cooked to a juicy goodness, and then baked inside a flaky, golden pastry.




It is the perfect warm comforting dish for a family dinner.

- Crimp the edges of the two pie crusts together all the way around with your fingers.
- In a small bowl, mix the egg white and baste the top of the pie lightly with a pastry brush.
- Slice small slits on the top of the chicken pie.
- Place in the oven for 45-50 minutes until the top has risen and is golden brown.
- Serve while warm.

What to serve with it?

How to store it?
You can easily prepare this beef mince pie in advance and leave it in the fridge. Let the pie cool and store it in an airtight glass container.
You can also prepare and keep the filling of the beef mince pie separately, and place it in the pie at a later time. Just let the pie filling come to room temperature before placing between the pie crusts, and then place it in the oven.
