Air fryer pizza sausage rolls with dipping sauce
In 35 minutes or less, these bite-size sausage pizza rolls are bound to be a hit with all your friends and family.
Ingredients
![]() | 3-4 thin sausages – any type of beef, pork, lamb, chicken or turkey sausages. |
![]() | 1 pie crust, such as shortbread pie crusts or pastry crusts. I’m using pastry pie crusts. |
![]() | 1 cup of grated cheese such as gruyére, emmental, or cheddar |
![]() | 1 egg |
Spices, herbs and ingredients for flavor:
![]() | 1.5 cups of regular or low fat greek yogurt. You can also use sour cream if you wish. |
![]() | 1/2 cup of tomato sauce or coulis |
![]() | 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder or flakes |
![]() | 1 teaspoon of shallot flakes or powder |
![]() | 1 teaspoon of dried parsley |
![]() | 1 teaspoon of paprika |
![]() | Salt and pepper |
![]() | 2 tablespoons of lemon juice |
How to make pizza sausage rolls in the air fryer
- Mix all the dipping sauce ingredients in a bowl using a spoon or whisk. Taste and adjust with salt and pepper if needed.
- Unroll the puff pastry onto a large cutting board.
- Cut the pastry in half.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of sauce over each half, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Arrange 3-4 sausages (depending on size) evenly spaced on one half of the pastry. Leave enough room between them so the dough can fully wrap around each sausage.
- Slice the dough into strips the width of each sausage.
- Wrap the pastry tightly around each sausage, sealing the edges well.
- Cut into equal bite-size pieces.
- Repeat with the remaining pastry and sausages.
- Transfer the rolls to the air fryer tray, leaving space between them so they can puff up.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Whisk the egg in a small bowl to make an egg wash.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash.
- Cook for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. If possible, turn them halfway through for even browning.
- Cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve with the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.

- 1 egg

Instructions
- For the dipping sauce, mix all the ingredients in a bowl with a large spoon or whisk.

- Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry dough into half.
- Spread out a tablespoon of the dipping sauce to each half of the puff pastry and top with shredded cheese.
- Place the 3-4 sausages (depending on the size of your pastry) equal distance apart, on one half of the puff pastry. Leave enough room between the sausages so that once the dough is cut, it can go around the entire sausage.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into individual sausage size strips.
- Wrap the pastry dough around the sausage until the meat is completely sealed.
- Cut the pizza sausage rolls into equal bite-size pieces.
- Repeat on the other side puff pastry base.
- Move each pizza roll to the air fryer tray, leaving enough room for them to expand.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Crack open the egg into a bowl and mix it with a spoon to make an egg wash.
- Apply the egg wash to the top of the pizza sausage rolls with a silicone baking brush (or teaspoon).
- Place the air fryer tray with the pizza sausage rolls in the air fryer and cook for 15 minutes until golden brown. (If possible, turn the pizza sausage rolls at the halfway point so that they cook evenly.)
- Take out of the air fryer and let cool for 5 minutes or so.
- Transfer the remaining sauce to a individual dipping sauce bowls, and serve alongside the pizza sausage rolls.
